Nutritional Advice for Longevity

It is common knowledge that happiness is one of the most important keys to longevity. Here is Dr. Li Zheng's ways of staying happy and calm no matter what the situation.

  • Drink white tea in the morning and chamomile tea in the evening instead of coffee which can cause anxiety.
  • Meditate for 20 minutes each day. The best time to do so is after lunch, around 2-3 PM, when our cortisol levels dip.
  • Perform acupressure on the points of the foot such as Kid 2(anterior and inferior to the medial malleolus in the depression on the lower border of the tuberosity of the navicular, and Sp4 (in the depression just distal to the poximal head of the 1st tarsal bone) 3 times a week to stenghten your parasympathetic nervous system and endocrine function.
  • When speaking to people, try to talk more slowly and concisely to avoid becoming agitated.
  • Forgive unfriendly people for the sake of your own happiness even if they cannot appreciate our efforts.
  • Balance your hormones with acupuncture or Chinese herbal formulas.
  • Do not multi-task; our brain cannot process too much informationat once. Because multi-tasking triggers adrenaline release, we become more anxious and less efficient overall.
  • Avoid unnecessary phone calls. Having conversations you are unprepared for can cause unnecessary anxiety.
